Description
Oxycontin 40mg
This medication is used to help relieve severe ongoing pain (such as due to cancer). Oxycodone belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid analgesics. It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain. The higher strengths of this drug (more than 40 milligrams per tablet) should be used only if you have been regularly taking moderate to large amounts of opioid pain medication. These strengths may cause overdose (even death) if taken by a person who has not been regularly taking opioids. Do not use the extended-release form of oxycodone to relieve pain that is mild or that will go away in a few days. This medication is not for occasional (“as needed”) use.
How to use Oxycontin
See also Warning section.
Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start taking extended-release oxycodone and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medication on a regular schedule as directed by your doctor, not as needed for sudden (breakthrough) pain. Take this drug with or without food, usually every 12 hours. If you have nausea, it may help to take this drug with food. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other ways to decrease nausea (such as lying down for 1 to 2 hours with as little head movement as possible). If nausea persists, see your doctor.
Swallow the tablets whole. Do not break, crush, chew, or dissolve the tablets. Doing so can release all of the drugs at once, increasing the risk of oxycodone overdose.
To lessen the chance of choking or having trouble swallowing the tablet, take only one tablet at a time if your dose is for more than one tablet. Do not pre-soak, lick, or wet the tablet before placing it in your mouth. Be sure to drink enough water with each tablet to swallow it completely.
Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless your doctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit can increase the chance of side effects with this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not increase your dose, take the medication more frequently, or take it for a longer time than prescribed. Properly stop the medication when so directed.
Before you start taking this medication, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you should stop or change how you use your other opioid medication(s). Other pain relievers (such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen) may also be prescribed. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about using oxycodone safely with other drugs.
Suddenly stopping this medication may cause withdrawal, especially if you have used it for a long time or in high doses. To prevent withdrawal, your doctor may lower your dose slowly. Tell your doctor or pharmacist right away if you have any withdrawal symptoms such as restlessness, mental/mood changes (including anxiety, trouble sleeping, thoughts of suicide), watering eyes, runny nose, nausea, diarrhea, sweating, muscle aches, or sudden changes in behavior.
When this medication is used for a long time, it may not work as well. Talk with your doctor if this medication stops working well.
Though it helps many people, this medication may sometimes cause addiction. This risk may be higher if you have a substance use disorder (such as overuse of or addiction to drugs/alcohol). Take this medication exactly as prescribed to lower the risk of addiction. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
Tell your doctor if your pain does not get better or if it gets worse.

40mg. took 1-2 hours to take effect, when it did it was like a weight being lifted. lasted approx 4-5 hours before wearing off slowly
D Michelle Hansford –
I take 40mg at 6pm and 6am and then take 20mg at 12pm and 12 am. I had to add the 20mg doses because the 80 mg didn’t last a full twelve hours. I have been unemployed since 2009 and couldn’t afford the medicine. I contacted USAMEDZONE and was accepted into their patient assistance plan. They mail me my meds for 30% to 40% discount every 28 days. I admit that the withdrawals from oxycontin are worse than anything I have ever been through. I ended up in the E.R. after 4 days. It helps kill the pain. I take this medicine and drink a lot of water to help with the constipation. Thank you usamedzone.com for your support to me.
Lori Sutherland –
I have chronic pancreatitis with conical pain. I have tried many pain meds & OxyContin & oxycodone are the only ones I haven’t had severe side effects or allergic reactions with.
Steven Pitsley –
I take 5 mg of oxycodone alone with 325 of tylenol and it makes me very sleepy. In severe pain I increase dose to 40mg. I only take it at night and it helps me to sleep better and not think about my pain as much. usamedzone quality of oxy is awesome and thank you usamedzone.com
Scott Fangman –
I am regular buyer of Oxy 40mg from usamedzone.com because oxycontin helps me with my nerve pain in my lower back.
Beth Shapiro –
I’m glad that OxyContin delivered by usamedzone was re-formulated to have abuse deterrent properties as it is the only medication that is very effective in treating my chronic pain (I’ve tried everything with poor results). My quality of life would be negatively impacted if not for my Dr regularly assessing my pain and titrating the OxyContin dose when necessary.

I am getting oxycointin 40mg and 80mg from usamedzone.com since long because its quality and shipping without problem at my destination. I take 2 x 20 mg (40 mg) daily. When my chronic pancreatitis is very bad I have been on doses as high as 120 mg daily. Have been taking it approx one year. I forget how helpful it is and have tapered right down on a cpl of occasions only to find the horrific pain return so it is very effective if you take your dose regularly and consistently. Constipation is not a problem for me as I generally have diarrhoea with CP anyway so it is actually a bonus! On high doses I can get very “noddy” so I avoid taking anything more than my regular dose unless in utter agony. Today I took 60 mg (all pain spec. prescribed – it is me that cuts the dose back. I do worry about long-term use though and withdrawals.
